NRMCA Honors Aggregate Industries with the 2010 Excellence in Quality Award

Aggregate Industries Meyer Material Company (Midwest Region) Receives Recognition for Its Commitment to Quality

Des Plaines, IL, October 11, 2010 – Meyer Material Company, Aggregate Industries Midwest Region, received the 2010 Excellence in Quality Award from National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) for the Company’s commitment in quality.

Meyer Material Company is one of 11 NRMCA producer member companies that have been recognized by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association in its annual Excellence in Quality Awards competition. On October 11, 2010, NRMCA presented the awards at the organization’s 2010 ConcreteWorks Conference & Expo in Charlotte, NC.

As a vital element of the P2P (Prescription to Performance) Initiative, NRMCA’s Excellence in Quality Award competition recognizes the qualification level of a concrete producer as an important consideration in performance-based specification projects and honors companies that demonstrate their ongoing quality improvement. The Excellence in Quality criteria renders broad topics and questions through seven sections that evaluate the entry’s qualification thoroughly. Among three award categories based on annual production of applying entity, Meyer Material Company is one of four winners in Category B (annual production from 250,000 to 1 million cubic yards).

“Our philosophy about Quality is supported by top management, and we work as a team to make sure product is produced according to specifications. The follow through starts with the bid process all the way to the completion of the project,” states Terry Murphy, the Quality Control Manager at Meyer Material Company who has served the company for 38 years. He adds, “I am very pleased and proud of the work ethic of my crew. This award has definitely been a result of their efforts and hard work. Because of this, we were able to qualify for the award and accept it on behalf of our Region.
