Jeffrey Clark from Crofton Plant Takes Second Place at the National Mixer Driver Championship

Indianapolis, Indiana, October 18, 2009 – Aggregate Industries employee Jeffrey Clark, of the Crofton Plant, took second place at the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s Fourth Annual National Mixer Driver Championship. The competition was held early last week at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Some 34 of the finest ready mix drivers from around the country competed for the title “Best of the Best.” According to NRMCA Senior Vice President of Operation and Compliance Gary Mullings, this year’s National Mixer Driver Championship was the closest competition to date. The event kicked off at about 8:00 in the morning, with awards presented to the three finishers with the highest cumulative scores. Scoring was based on:

Visual Vehicle Inspection - The ability to conduct a timed Visual Inspection of a mixer vehicle, similar to what drivers do during a pre-trip inspection.

Driving Challenge Course - Eight predetermined “challenges” set up in a closed course to test driving skills.

Written Examination - Test questions based on information from the “Concrete Delivery Professional” and the “Truck Driver Mixer Manual.”

Jeffrey Clark (a.k.a. Jay) received both a trophy and a $1,000 check. Driving for Aggregate Industries for 15 years, Jay is a certified NRMCA Concrete Delivery Professional and holds the Company record for high score on the CDP written exam. Jay has participated in the National Mixer Driver Championship competition for the past four years. He was the champion in the 2008 Maryland Motor Truck Association Ready Mix Concrete Class and is the reigning third place finisher from 2009.

What made this achievement even more special for Jay, originally from Indiana, is that his parents still live there and were able to cheer him on from the audience.

Congratulations, Jay! Job well done!
