Aggregate Industries Supports Quince Orchard Library

AI Donates $2,000 to Friends of the Library at the 10th Annual Quince Orchard Library Community Day Festival 

Gaithersburg, Maryland: Aggregate Industries Mid-Atlantic Region participated in the 10th Annual Friends of the Library Community Day Festival on Saturday, June 20, 2009. The Company donated $2,000 to the Friends of the Library to help with maintenance and upkeep of this important community resource. The check was presented at the event by Richard Freedman, Director for Real Estate and Environment in the Company’s Mid-Atlantic Region.

Aggregate Industries has been a supporter of the library, which is located on Quince Orchard Road, about 5 miles from the Company’s Rockville Quarry, Gaithersburg, Maryland. For 15 years, the Company has donated more then $50,000 to the Friends of the Library Organization.

Freedman stated, “The library is an important community resource for the residents in Potomac and Rockville, and as a Corporate Citizen of these communities, we believe in adding value to the community, and as such, we are proud of our long-tenured relationship with the Friends of the Library and with the Library itself.” He added, “The Company believes in supporting education, and there is no better way to support this belief than ensuring access to literature and the other resources that this library provides.”

The event, which was sponsored by the Montgomery County Department of Libraries, and Friends of the Library, Quince Orchard Chapter, attracted residents of all ages and included story time for the local children in attendance. In addition, Aggregate Industries parked a Ready Mix Concrete Truck in the parking lot allowing the children attending to “touch the truck” and take pictures with it.
