AI receives 2009 Gold Level NSSGA Community Relations Award. Aggregate Industries Restores Endangered Historic Manor AI Receives Prestigious Award for Community Engagement and Corporate Responsibility Fredericksburg, Virginia: Hayfield Manor is a pre-revolutionary Georgian manor built on the banks of the Rappahannock River that represents 250 years of building technology, innovation, and history. Before Aggregate Industries’ stabilization and renovation commenced in 2006, the manor was abandoned, vandalized, and on the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities’ most endangered list. Then Aggregate Industries stepped in to stabilize and renovate the property beginning in 2006. Hayfield Manor offers visitors an opportunity to learn about Virginia’s history prior to the Revolutionary War and during the Civil War, as well as the effects of changing transportation and socioeconomic conditions on architecture and land uses. After extensive input and support from the Fredericksburg community, the totally renovated Hayfield Manor is available for viewing, meetings, and events. On March 12, the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) awarded Aggregate Industries Management, Inc., and its Hayfield Manor project one of its 2009 Gold Level NSSGA Community Relations Awards at the AGG1 Convention in Orlando, Florida. The award recognizes the commitment and dedication of Aggregate Industries in the areas of community relations and corporate responsibility, and specifically, the company’s commitment to the Fredericksburg, Virginia community. NSSGA is the preeminent trade association for the stone, sand and gravel industry. The organization has been recognizing excellence in the area of community relations with its award for 20 years. This honor acknowledges aggregate producers who represent their commitment and support of activities that positively portray the aggregate industry. NSSGA states that the ultimate goal of the Excellence in Community Relations award program is improvement of the public’s perception of local crushed stone, sand, and gravel operations and the aggregates industry. Each of the entries was judged on seven criteria: community participation, communication, donations and service, local and state government involvement, educational outreach, and media relations. Hayfield Manor and Aggregate Industries’ continue to demonstrate their dedication to the community by opening the doors of Hayfield Manor to the public for tours and events and continuing to work on stabilization efforts, research and community outreach. Aggregate Industries is proud of the work and commitment shown by all of the employees who made the restoration and continual upkeep of Hayfield Manor possible. Furthermore, we are honored to be chosen for the Gold Level NSSGA Community Relations Award.
