Learn more about LEED

To encourage all developers to consider the ustainability of their construction projects, the U.S. Green Building Council has introduced the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) scheme. This comprises a national rating system to help developers rate how ‘environmentally efficient’ their building projects are.

We are proud of offer our newly updated (for LEED-NC, v2.2) Aggregate Industries Guide to LEED Certification (pdf), to educate our customers about the LEED program and how Aggregate Industries can help developers gain valuable LEED Credits.

LEED focuses on a number of criteria including:

  a) Site sustainability
  b) Energy usage and air quality
  c) Water efficiency
  d) Materials and resource usage / transportation
  e) Quality of the internal environment
  f) Innovation and design

By means of a project checklist, those involved in a building scheme can allocate credits to specific elements of a project, such as the type of construction materials used. The aim of this rating system is to accumulate enough points to reach a certification status, thereby providing an overall environmental
sustainability classification rating for a building project.
